Venting!

I was watching Martha Stewart's talk show (on DVR, so it may have been from a couple days ago) and Melissa Etheridge was on. She was talking about how much she loves Christmas--but not because of the religiosity. Because of the festivities.

What?

If you are not a Christian, why would you celebrate the birth of CHRIST?!?!?!

I know this is nothing newsworthy, but it just chaps my hide. I don't want the British celebrating our Independence Day and I don't think everybody should celebrate Christmas "just because".

Short rant, I'm just a little irritated by it.

My Rut & My Exit

I'm in a rut. A pouting, whining, poor-me rut.

And I'm ready to get out.

I'm not usually a "New Year's Resolution" kind of girl, but I have a different view this year. I see an opportunity for a fresh start and I feel motivated.

Instead of coming up with traditional resolutions, I'm making a list of ways I want my children to describe me as they grow:

1. Christ-like
2. Joyful
3. Creative & Artistic
4. Thoughtful, Generous, Kind
5. Inventive
6. Playful
7. Stylish (And that's OK!)
8. Funny and/or witty
9. Loving
10. Patient
11. Humble
12. Hopeful
13. Perserverent
14. Content
15. Thrifty

Those are in no particular order, except for the first one. Throughout the next year, I will be referencing this post and sharing my progress. I can't exactly mark it like a to-do list, but I will endeavor after each quality with the same enthusiasm.
